Hollywood Today: Urban Planning Pop-Up Shop Opens

Also: A double feature at the Egyptian Theatre and an 'Annie' sing-along are planned Sunday.

Woodbury University opens at 2 p.m. the Hollywood Urban Planning Pop-Up Shop featuring workshops and an interactive diorama. The community engagement project "critiques the design of cities today by asking the public to re-imagine Hollywood." The shop is open through Jan. 29 at 6518 Hollywood Blvd. Gallery hours are Thursday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday - Saturday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m..

  • The  is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is a certified open-air street market with approximately 100 farmers, 30 local artisans and 40 baked-goods and prepared-food vendors who sell their products. It is a direct-to-consumer marketplace with all produce and products from local, California vendors and growers.
  • will have a "Deacons' Sing-Along" from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. All those attending are encouraged to bring blankets and beach chairs. There will also be an opportunity to buy lunch during the sing-along featuring songs from the musical, Annie. Tickets, which are $5 per meal or $15 for a family of three or more, will be available in the garden. Call 323-463-7161, ext. 257 for more information.
  • The will have a double feature starting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The films, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and Viridiana, will be shown. The double feature will be preceded by a showing of the 1929 short film, Un Chien Andalou. To find out more, call 323-466-3456.
