Before the screening began, Downey Jr., whose original “Iron Film” kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe 10 years ago, gave an impassioned speech. In it, he paid tribute to Marvel Studios for its ingenuity to intermesh 19 films and counting within its cinematic universe. “This is a miracle,” the actor said. “And if any one of us took credit, it would be heresy. It would be blasphemy.”
Downey Jr. also honored his cast mates, who were beaming with pride and enthusiasm on stage. “The present is this moment of glory for all of us,” he mentioned. “And the future? That is always uncertain. But looking at these friends behind me, it seems like things might brighten up after all.”
