Jim Carrey's Girlfriend Dies of Apparent Suicide

The woman was found in a Sherman Oaks home. She left a note for the actor/comedian, with whom she had an on and off relationship.

A woman who was actor Jim Carrey’s girlfriend has died of an apparent suicide, authorities said today.

Cathriona White, 30, of Sherman Oaks was found dead at a residence in the 15000 block of Briarwood Drive about 8 p.m. Monday, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter, who described the woman as an “on-again/off-again” girlfriend of Carrey’s.

White apparently committed suicide with pills, Winter said, adding that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.

According to the celebrity news website TMZ.com, White’s body was discovered by two friends who went to check on her.

White’s Twitter account included a post dated Sept. 24: ”Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”

Born in Ireland, a day earlier White tweeted a link to an Instagram post with a quote by Irish poet Willliam Butler Yeats: “Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on top of the dishevelled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame. W.B. Yeats”

Carrey and White met in 2012 and dated a few months before breaking up. They had gotten back together in May but recently broke up again, and she had left a suicide note addressed to Carrey, TMZ reported.
