LA Kings Pick Up-And-Comer To Replace Broadcast Legend Bob Miller

The LA Kings chose Alex Faust, 28, to replace retired legend Bob Miller, who retired after 44 seasons as the voice of the Kings: BREAKING.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Kings Thursday announced the hiring of 28-year-old Alex Faust as the team's television play-by-play announcer, replacing longtime broadcaster Bob Miller.

Miller announced his retirement in March, more than a month after suffering a mild stroke. In April, Miller broadcast the 3,353rd and final game of his 44-season career with the Kings.

Faust most recently served as a college football and basketball announcer with ESPNU and Fox Sports, and he called this year's NCAA men's Frozen Four on the Westwood One radio network. He previously called hockey games on NBCSN and NESN, and served as the radio broadcaster for the American Hockey League's Utica Comets.

He was the voice of Northeastern University men's basketball, and was one of the youngest play-by-play broadcasters to call an NCAA tournament game at age 26. He was also the radio broadcaster for the single-A Staten Island Yankees for two years.

"We had many great, qualified candidates but, ultimately, we kept coming back to Alex," Kings President Luc Robitaille said. "We believe he is the best person to take over for Bob, who of course means so much to us and the sports community. We look forward to helping introduce Alex to our fans when the 2017-18 season begins."

Faust graduated from Northeastern University in 2012 with a degree in political science and economics. In 2011, he received the Jim Nantz Award, honoring the nation's top collegiate sports broadcaster.

"The Kings have set a standard for excellence on and off the ice and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve fans in this role," Faust said.

Faust will work alongside color analyst Jim Fox on Fox Sports West. Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans will return to the Kings radio booth.

Faust noted that Miller "is still very much the voice of the Kings, and his legacy goes well beyond the booth."

"My goal is to bring the same class and professionalism to work each day, especially as I get to know Kings fans over the coming weeks, months and years," he said.
