Jennifer Lawrence reunites with her “Hunger Games” director Francis Lawrence in the spy thriller based on the first novel of Jason Matthews’ “Red Sparrow” trilogy.

In the film, Lawrence plays Russia’s top prima ballerina Dominika Egorova, who’s forced to leave her career after a horrific onstage accident. Faced with an uncertain future, she reluctantly enters a state-run spy school, where young women are taught the art of entrapment.

As her personal journey unfolds, she becomes a deadly master of seduction and manipulative combat, and ultimately falls for CIA operative Nate Nash (Joel Edgerton). Will their love affair survive the treacherous web of deceit and intrigue?

See it. Spellbinding and gorgeously shot, “Red Sparrow” is undoubtedly Jennifer Lawrence’s movie. Her ferocity will leave you breathless, and her gaze alone will keep you captivated.

“Death Wish” — Bruce Willis, Elisabeth Shue, directed by Eli Roth

A reboot of the 1974 action film “Death Wish,” Eli Roth’s revenge thriller tells the story of Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis), a well-respected father and surgeon who’s transformed into a justice-seeking vigilante after his family is torn apart by a vicious attack.

Burning for vengeance, Kersey takes on an alternate persona at night, the “Grim Reaper.” In the end, it's unclear whether he has gone beyond the point of no return.

Skip it. All in all, the action movie lacks the punch to keep us engaged.

Just short of an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign-Language feature this year, the gripping film attempts to deconstruct the concept of fate, unfolding in three interconnected stories, all distinct in style and tone.

The first part tells the heart-wrenching story of Dafna and Michael Feldman (played by Sarah Adler and Lior Ashkenazi, respectively) who have just found out that their son has been killed in the line of duty. Part two depicts exactly what happened to their son, while the third and final part of the film portrays how the parents cope with their loss, pain and suffering.

See it. Samuel Maoz’s Grand Jury Prize winner at the 74th Venice Film Festival is a poetry in motion filled with memorable visual metaphors. It's beautifully crafted like the well-choreographed foxtrot dance.
