New Burger to Debut at Umami

Creator Mayer Hawthorne describes the new addition is "flashy but classy."

How about a splash of cognac in that next burger you bite into?

L.A.-based musician Mayer Hawthorne has created a "flashy but classy" beef patty with cognac-infused parsnip puree, cognac fondue sauce, hatch chiles and hatch chile straws, reports Eater L.A.

The $13 special will be available exclusively at Umami Burger at Space 15 Twenty. A public launch celebration is planned Tuesday from 8-11 p.m. There will be DJ sets from Hawthorne and Billy Goods.

Hawthorne recently posted on his Facebook page about the project. He wrote:

After many late hours in the Umami utility research kitchen, "The Hawthorne" is finally here. A burger that I am proud to put my name on. It's flashy, but classy and most importantly - it's incredibly tasty. Big thanks to John Herndon and Umami Burger for blessing me with the first ever signature Umami burger. "The Hawthorne" rolls out October 9th exclusively at Umami Urban in Hollywood. Don't just eat to live, live to eat!
