Driver Escapes Police In Hollywood Car Chase
The chase began in the Inland Empire, with the driver clocking speeds of over 100 mph.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — A driver managed to evade California Highway Patrol and LAPD after a lengthy car chase that spanned over 40 miles Friday afternoon. The pursuit began around 12:30 on Interstate 10 near Baldwin Park, after a CHP officer attempted to pull over a car for driving solo in the carpool lane and crossing the double yellow-line.
The blue Honda sedan continued to drive west on the freeway, at times reaching speeds of over 100 mph. The driver eventually exited for the surface streets in Hollywood, when LAPD took over the pursuit.
LAPD cars was initially trailing the car, but pulled back and instead used helicopters due to the danger of the chase. Television footage showed the driver running multiple red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road, at one point leaving the car to grab clothes and other items from the trunk in Culver City.

The pursuit was eventually terminated, according to Officer Tony Im of the LAPD. A report using the car's license plate number will be filed.
