Red Baraat: Blending Jazz, Funk and India Heritage
“I grew up listening to various Indian music from my parents, everything they brought from India,” Jain told The Boston Globe. But his own taste ran more along the lines of Top 40, prog rock and hip hop.
Red Baraat’s most recent album, Sound the People has been a hit around the world and the band has played Kazakhstan, Abu Dhabi, Canada and Europe.
When he took drum lessons he was inspired by the late Neil Peart of Rush, but his teacher gave him lessons based on the style of Tower of Power’s David Garibaldi and he loved it.
The band has grown over the years and includes the electric playing of Jonathan Goldberger guitarist and Chris Eddleton drummer, sousaphonist and co-songwriter John Altieri.
