World War II Replica Bomb Prompts Evacuation in Hollywood
Authorities were called to the 6600 block of Lexington Avenue Monday to investigate a suspicious item.

A storage unit auction was taking place when a World War II-era replica bomb was uncovered near the 6600 block of Lexington Avenue Monday, authorities reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department's bomb squad concluded that the item posed no threat to the community Monday afternoon, said LAPD spokeswoman Sara Faden. She said the item was an "inert prop bomb."

A Hollywood Patch reader who works in an animation studio in the area confirmed a nearby building was evacuated while an LAPD bomb squad investigated the item.
Police were called to the scene around 12:01 p.m., Faden said. LAPD's media relations department received word the scene was cleared around 1:20 p.m.
