HOLLYWOOD, CA — Three young hikers had to be rescued from Runyon Canyon by Los Angeles Fire Department Monday night after they were unable to make it up a steep slope. The incident was reported around 7:06 p.m. in a remote area of Runyon Canyon.

LAFD said the group included an 18-year-old boy, an 11-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, along with their dog. Firefighters set up a low angle rope rescue and used pulleys to help mechanically pull the hikers up the slope, according to Nicholas Prange of the LAFD.

Prange added that LAFD Air Ops were also on the scene with a high-intensity searchlight to help with visibility as the sunlight faded.
