Trump Turns Silver Lake Congressman's Name Into Curse Word
Los Angeles-area Congressman Adam Schiff, the likely incoming intelligence chair, seems to have touched a nerve with the president.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Either President Donald Trump grossly misspelled the name of LA’s ranking legislator, or he’s a little irked at Rep. Adam Schiff for fighting his choice for acting attorney general.
The president resorted to name-calling Sunday with a tweet.
“So funny to see little Adam Schitt (D-CA) talking about the fact that Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was not approved by the Senate, but not mentioning the fact that Bob Mueller (who is highly conflicted) was not approved by the Senate!” tweeted the President of the United States.

Schiff, who represents a swath of Los Angeles that includes Hollywood, West Hollywood, Pasadena, Echo Park and Silver Lake appreciated the president’s witticism, tweeting “Wow, Mr. President, that’s a good one. Was that like your answers to Mr. Mueller’s questions, or did you write this one yourself?”

Schiff needled a sore spot for the president in taunting him over the Russia investigation. Several Trump associates are said to be concerned about pending indictments, and the president has escalated his attacks on the investigation as well as Bob Mueller. The president complained about questions he was forced to answer for the special counsel, telling reporters last week he wrote his answers by himself — not his lawyers.

Schiff has joined other prominent Democrats in criticizing the president’s appointment of Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general after firing Jeff Sessions. On Monday, senate Democrats filed a lawsuit seeking to block the appointment, contending Trump violated the Appointments Clause of the Constitution by appointing Whitaker to a Cabinet-level position without Senate confirmation.
The appointment is widely considered by Democrats to be an attempt to squash Mueller’s investigation because Whitaker has openly opposed aspects of it, suggesting that an attorney general could kill it by starving it of funding.
Those there is no love lost between Schiff and Trump — the two have been sparring throughout Trump’s presidency — it could backfire on the president. Schiff will likely chair the House Intelligence Committee now that Democrats are in the majority. He’s vowed to investigate Whitaker’s appointment along with any possible attempts to obstruct the Mueller investigation.
