Watch: In 2 Minutes, Frances McDormand Steals Oscars 2018 Show
The Best Actress winner sends a powerful message to the men and women of Hollywood — and the nation.

And the 2018 Oscar for most powerful speech goes to ... Frances McDormand, whose acceptance for Best Actress in a Leading Role stole the show and made women in general the biggest winners of the night.
After taking the stage and beginning her acceptance speech for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, she set her Oscar statuette on the floor beside her, tapped it on the head and requested help from her fellow female nominees.
“If I could have all the women stand up with me in this moment,” McDormond said, waving them to their feet. “Look around, everybody, look around, ladies and gentlemen, because we all have stories to tell, and we all have projects we need to finance.”

As the women rose, so did the applause and cheering in the theater.
“Invite us into your office in a couple of days, or you can come to ours, whichever suits you best, and we’ll tell you all about them,” she continued, ending with: “I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentlemen: Inclusion rider.”

An inclusion rider, McDormond explained later, is a stipulation that the minor roles of a film reflect the demography of where the film takes place, including a proportionate number of women, minorities, LGBTQ individuals and people with disabilities. It can be negotiated into contracts.
Here's the speech and some explainers from HuffPo.
