West Hollywood Opens Cooling Center At Plummer Park

The cooling center will be open whenever the temperature is above 90 degrees.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Plummer Park will serve as a cooling center whenever temperatures are over 90 degrees, the City of West Hollywood announced today. Rooms 5 and 6 at the Plummer Park Community Center will be available to residents in need of a break from the heat.

Currently, the center is scheduled to be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Tuesday. The center will hold up to 30 residents to keep with social distancing guidelines, and face coverings are required.

"High heat can make the weather dangerous as well as uncomfortable," the city wrote in a press release. "The City reminds residents and community members to take precautions to keep as cool as possible during hot days. If possible, stay out of the sun; avoid strenuous activity; drink plenty of water; and wear lightweight clothing."
