Woman Arrested After 7-Hour Hollywood Standoff

A woman police believe may have been suicidal and armed, held a SWAT Team at bay in Hollywood for hours before surrendering.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A possibly suicidal woman reported to be armed with a gun was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after barricading herself for more than seven hours in a residence in Hollywood.

Officers went to the 1700 block of North Orange Drive about 6:35 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The woman, whose name was withheld, was believed alone in the residence, police said. Some evacuations were ordered as a precaution.

A SWAT and crisis negotiation team were summoned and the woman was taken into custody about 1:45 p.m., the LAPD reported.

Details about how the standoff was brought to an end were not immediately available and it was unclear if a weapon was recovered.
