Woman Struck, Killed By Drunk Driver After 4th Of July

Authorities said the woman left her car to check for damage after a three-car crash when another driver fatally struck her.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A woman was struck and killed on the 101 freeway early Monday morning after the 4th of July, by a driver suspected of being drunk, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 4:46 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway at Pilgrimage Bridge, near the Hollywood Bowl. Authorities said that while the woman was getting out of her car, she was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

22-year-old Adrian Castroramos, who was driving the car, was met by CHP officers at the scene and was "determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision." CHP said Castroramos suffered minor cuts on his hands from the crash.

According to CHP, the woman had gotten out of her car to check for damage after she was involved in an earlier three-car crash just prior. Her name wasn't released as authorities were working to notify next of kin.

The agency's Central Los Angeles area office urged anyone with information about the crash to call them at 213-744-2331.
