This Mother’s Day, Terranea Resort offers a variety of epicurean, wellness and family friendly activities.

Set above the ocean on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the Terranea Resort includes 582 guestrooms and suites with bungalows, casitas and villas, most with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.

There are over 200 fire pits and fireplaces scattered around the property offering plenty of opportunities to snuggle up and enjoy the view. Contemporary rooms feature rich linens, gigantic bathrooms, big bathtubs and roomy showers and flat-screen TVs. Mom’s can head to the 50,000-square-foot spa set amid sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island for a massage or relax with a dip in the private spa pool before a dinner by the fire at mar’sel.

All of the restaurants provide beautiful views and atmospheres. Mom’s can enjoy indoor or outdoor lunch and dinner dining by an inviting fire pit at Catalina Bar Kitchen. Enjoy appetizers including a cheese and charcuterie board, hummus plate and a variety of flatbreads. Main plates include a grilled flat iron steak, Angus burger, Pacific striped bass, roasted Jidori chicken breast and a chef’s daily dinner special. Sides include fire roasted seasonal vegetables, baked mac and cheese, Gruyere mashed potatoes and garlic fries. End the meal with a crème brulee cheesecake, chocolate hazelnut and berry filled donuts, molten lave chocolate cake or a mix of gelato and sorbets.

Beautiful views everywhere, and the burger was delicious

For a casual meal, sit directly above the ocean caves and enjoy the view at Nelsons, open from 11am to 9pm (closed on Wednesdays). Enjoy crispy chicken wings, chips and dips, salads, their famous Nelson’s burger, mushroom melt, prime rib sandwich, lobster roll, mussels and fries and swordfish tacos while taking in the view.

Bashi serves up inventive wok style dishes highlighting Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian cuisine, open for dinner Wednesday – Friday and lunch and dinner on weekends.

Enjoy sushi, rolls, and larger plates including wok tossed garlic noodles, Bashi fried rice, shaking beef with fried potatoes, baked salmon salad or a poke bowl.

Enjoy stunning Pacific Ocean views at mar’sel, perfect for brunch or a romantic dinner. Everything here is both beautiful and delicious. Appetizer standouts include a raw bar seafood selection, oysters, charcuterie platter, coconut carrot soup, prawns, grilled asparagus salad, smoked trout Caesar salad and a wide selection of cheeses. Main courses include a vegetable pasta, halibut with mushrooms and spinach, sea bass with a warm potato salad, chicken and grits, a port porterhouse, lamb with tzatziki, filet mignon and a New York strip steak. Sides include fingerling potatoes, a mushroom medley and grilled broccolini. Decadent desserts include strawberry shortbread with lim sorbet, a vegan Meyer lemon cheesecake, chocolate pot de crème and house made gelatos and sorbets.

At Terranea there is a pool for everyone with four pools featuring beautiful ocean views. The Main Pool is perfect for families and includes a 140-foot water slide, splash pad, private cabanas and poolside games. For a relaxing mood, head to the Spa pool reserved for spa guests with fire pits and a 25 meter pool. The saltwater Vista Pool is for guests 13 and older and has a hot tub and the Cielo Point pool is for adults only and offers private cabanas.
