Kendall's Brasserie & Bar is a Perfect Pre-Theatre Dinner Destination

Part of the Patina Restaurant Group, this bistro serves up delicious French favorites

Kendall’s Brasserie & Bar is the Patina Restaurant Group’s French eatery conveniently located near Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Ahmanson Theatre.

The cozy bistro is divided into several eating areas, a lounge with wooden communal tables and high leather bar chairs to enjoy cocktails and happy hour, an al fresco patio and several dining rooms for bigger meals. The ambiance is intimate and inviting with a terracotta tile floor leading to wood floored dining areas, cozy big circular back booths, wood tables, green banquettes, red drapes and Toulouse-Lautrec inspired murals.

Diners can enjoy hand-cured appetizers including a cheese plate; chicken liver pate with port wine gelee, bread and fig chutney; charcuterie with salami, pickled vegetables and grilled bread and the Head to Toes with crispy pigs ears, trotter croquettes and Béarnaise.

Kendall’s also offers a nice variety of French inspired small plates which are perfect to share with cocktails for a pre-theatre date. Standouts include the French onion soup, steak tartare, escargot with porcini mushroom daube, oysters and an onion tart.

Barramundi with green beans, potatoes and Meyer lemon confit

Main courses include steak frites; mussels with duck fat garlic fries; roasted barramundi with green beans, potatoes, Meyer lemon confit and capers; coq au vin; short ribs with ratatouille and parmesan polenta; lamb shank with mashed potatoes; bouillabaisse and lobster with cognac sauce and saffron Israeli couscous.

There’s also a nice “Passport to France” two-course menu with several choices of a starter and main course for $48.

Desserts include a vanilla crème brulee; chocolate fondant with espresso sauce and pistachio ice cream; an apple tart and a stunning floating island.

Specialty cocktails include a pear martini, Hemingway daiquiri with rum, maraschino liqueur, grapefruit juice and lime and a Parisian mule with cognac, ginger syrup, lemon, mint and champagne.

Kendall’s also offers a weekend brunch including salmon benedict, a Basque chorizo omelette, short rib hash, French toast, a leek quiche, croquet madame, nicoise salad and larger steak, mussels, chicken and salmon entrees.
