Mastro’s Offers Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company’s Bourbon

Mastro’s restaurants have launched new pours, flights and cocktails featuring Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company’s Single Barrel Bourbon. The steakhouse is the first restaurant in the U.S. to collaborate with the distiller after a 102-year hiatus.

The first bourbon release from Peerless in over a century is a hand selected single barrel bourbon called Chocolate Oak, named by Mastro’s team for it’s distinctive notes of dark chocolate and spice. The featured bourbon is at 107 proof and produced 233 bottles which are exclusively offered at Mastro’s Steakhouse and Mastro’s Ocean Club locations.

We visited the Mastro’s Steakhouse in Thousand Oaks and the atmosphere was sophisticated and classic old school steakhouse. Upon entering the huge front doors, the overhead Dale Chihuly glass structure sets the stage for an elegant dining experience. There are several dining areas to choose from including the Malibu Room, a semi-private dining room overlooking the lively bar with live entertainment; the private Chef’s Dining Room with a beautiful full wall fireplace with views of the garden; The Plaza Room, another private dining room with pretty glass chandeliers and The Napa Room where we were lucky to be seated. The romantic room features a huge built in wall of wine, large paintings and faces the Piano Bar so we could enjoy the live entertainment.

Mastro’s is known for serving delicious USDA prime steaks with 16 different cuts of meats, their two-story seafood towers, huge side options including lobster mashed potatoes and their warm butter cake.

We began with a huge breadbasket before ordering Chilled Alaskan King Crab and Ahi tuna tartar appetizers. We loved the huge easy to eat sweet crab and fresh tuna. Next came melt in your mouth filets with garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach and mushrooms. Every dish was cooked perfectly and the service was impeccable.

We were celebrating a special birthday and the staff went out of their way to present a beautiful birthday platter featuring their signature warm butter cake, triple chocolate layer cake and a big profiterole.
