Water Grill Launches New Summer Dishes

The Water Grill in Santa Monica and downtown LA are now offering their famous soft shell crab dishes featuring soft-shell crabs from the Chesapeake Bay.

Soft-shell crabs sourced from Crisfield Maryland, are being offered as appetizers in their wild Maryland soft-shell crab salad with watermelon and cucumber and a brown butter soy ginger sauce as well as their soft-shell crab roll with mango, pckled jalapeno, snow pea shoots, eel sauce and cilantro oil.

Located in the former Ocean Avenue Seafood space in the heart of Santa Monica, the westside Water Grill offers open air seating overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The middle of the dining room houses the huge raw bar and communal tables. Diners can view the display of fresh fish in the back of the restaurant, as well as live lobsters and crabs.

Diners can taste every kind of seafood while sipping craft cocktails and enjoying the ocean view. Appetizers include fish tacos, jumbo lump blue crab cake, tuna poke, mussels, clams with chorizo, oysters Rockefeller and octopus. There’s also plenty of sushi and sushi rolls, a huge raw bar with a dozen oyster selections and impressive choices for any size chilled shellfish tower.

Entrees include lobster, king crab legs, a daily variety of whole fish that are grilled or roasted, fish and chips, swordfish, sea bass, tuna, salmon, sablefish, scallops and cioppino. In addition to the soft-shell crabs, it’s also halibut season and the Water Grill offers halibut cheeks, a tempura fried halibut cheek salad and pan seared halibut.

For carnivores, they also offer a nice variety of filet mgnon, New York strip steak, a cowboy ribeye, a Wagyu ribeye and a grilled Mary’s organic chicken.

Desserts include a banana chocolate sundae, maple cheesecake, chocolate espresso ganache cake, key lime pie and a caramel bread pudding.

Custom cocktails include the Accidental Crossing with gin, pink grapefruit, lemon and Ramazzotti Aperitivo Rosato; the Ocean Avenue with vodka, fresh strawberry and lemon juice and tarragon essence, and the Rosewood with gin, limoncello, lime and tonic among other interesting libations.
