Why Does Landmark Patys Restaurant in Toluca Lake Only Have 1 't' on its Sign?
Paty's restaurant has welcomed Tolucans and celebrities for over 50 years.
For over 50 years, in has been serving up diner favorites and home-baked goods.
Bob Hope, James Garner, Debbie Reynolds and Jonathan Winters used to frequent Paty's, while many celebs of today like local residents Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff continue to make it a trendy-yet-classic landmark eatery.
I always wondered about the spelling of the diner, why one "t" on the big neon sign and not the traditional two? A little investigation led to an explanation. When former owner Cathy Baker bought the restaurant it was called Gaby's. She couldn't afford a new sign so she changed only two letters and the diner became "Paty's."

In 1999, the restaurant changed hands, closed for nine months and got a major face lift. The Metsos family, who owns the Lamplighter restaurants, reopened Paty's in 2000.
Diners can sit outside on the patio under the large green awning or inside at the counter, tables or booths. Vintage black and white photos adorn the walls. In addition to serving standard breakfast fare all day, Paty's also offers a wide variety of salads, burgers and sandwiches, as well as a range of low-carb and high-protein meals.
