Locals Come Out in Support of Toluca Lake Firefighters

More than 1,000 supporters attend annual Old Fashioned Pancake Breakfast.

Last Saturday, Fire Station 86 . The event was held in conjunction with Fire Service Day. More than 1,000 local residents and business owners showed up to show appreciation for our local firefighters.

Money raised from the event goes to help provide equipment for the fire station and to the Widows and Orphans Fund, which supports families of fallen firefighters. Attendees enjoyed a homemade breakfast of eggs, sausages, pancakes, fruit, orange juice and coffee.

Kids of all ages got a first-hand look at the fire engine, meet firefighters, take pictures with Curious George and shoot fire hoses. A raffle provided a wide variety of prizes from Toluca Lake restaurants and businesses.

"Every day these firefighters put their lives on the line for us and sacrifice so much of themselves and their families," said event organizer Andrew Mortaza, a realtor at Keller Williams Realty.

The pancake breakfast was made possible by volunteers from the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commere and the Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council.
