Toluca Lake Thrift Shop Hosts 'Only the Best' Event

The in Toluca Lake will host "Only the Best," a sale of high-end new and used designer clothing, shoes, handbags, artwork and jewelry on Oct. 21 - 22.

The shop is one of 50 throughout California that sells new and gently used merchandise, including furniture, dresses, designer jeans, china and books. All merchandise is donated and proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to fund education, research, advocacy and patient services.

Like all American Cancer Society Discovery Shops, the Toluca Lake store is run by staff and volunteers.  

"We have a wonderful group of people who work here," said Amy Widener, manager of the store. "Aside from raising money, the store also makes the cancer society visible to the public and encourages people to learn about the organization."

The store is a team effort. It takes shoppers, donors, and volunteers to keep it going. Items start from $4 for clothing and go up for items such as designer shoes and handbags.

The "Only the Best" event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday, October 21 - 22, at 10124 Riverside Drive.
