The passing of Charys South Sayre

Memorial service on Dec 1st, 1pm at The Quest

Charys South Sayre, 57, of Sonoma died at her home on November 4, 2018. She was born on May 23, 1961, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Stanley and Patricia South. Charys grew up in Speedway, Indiana, and graduated from Speedway High School in 1979. She attended Ball State University for two years before transferring to Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she graduated with a degree in Hotel Management. After working in New York City, she moved to California in April of 1988.

Charys worked in the hotel industry her entire career. Most recently, she was a Destination Sales Executive at The Lodge at Sonoma for the past twelve years.

Charys loved her family, her many friends and her dog Mikey. She was a music lover, animal lover, an incredible cook, and knew how to throw a great party. She always enjoyed her pool and spa time as well as skiing at Heavenly Valley in Tahoe.

Charys is survived by her sister Claire South and cousins Donna South Boals, Deanna South Sargent, Anna Spitzer, Nick Graub and Sarah Grain. She is also survived by Casey Sayre and his family Leslie Sayre and Cara Creason, Steve and Tricia Sayre, and their children and grandchildren.

Charys’ deepest love was for her son, Satchel, who passed away unexpectedly in July of 2016. Also preceding her in death were her parents and her cousin, John Graub.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1st, at 1:00pm, at The Quest located at 1461 S. Novato Boulevard in Novato. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life at The Lodge at Sonoma located at 1325 Broadway in Sonoma.
