World Teen Mental Wellness Day Is Today
Unfortunately, teen mental health is suffering. Today is a day for parents to open up a dialogue on mental health and self care.

Hi Parents! I’m going to ask you to reflect on your daughter’s mental health right now? Generation Z has been hard hit this last year, and for many mental health is suffering.
World Teen Mental Wellness is today and was started as a way to remind teens that it’s ok to not be ok. And it’s just as important as ever for teens to take really good care of themselves. Self care is about paying attention to what one’s mind and body are needing.

* Washing your body or face
* Reading a book for enjoyment

* Getting your homework done so you can have a peaceful rest of the night
* Brushing your teeth
* Taking a digital break
* Getting some sunshine
* Having a whole meal
* Moving your body
* Spending time with your family (grandparents included)
* Deep breathing
* Talking with your friends
* Going to bed earlier than usual
There are so many ways teens can care for themselves. As parents, be a role model of good self care. Today would be a great day to share that it’s “World Teen Mental Wellness Day” at meal time. You might get an eye roll but if you can slide a $3 face mask or a small Starbucks gift card across the table it might disarm her enough to open up some conversation. If not, share a few words about self care and move on. Lectures aren’t self care and can deteriorate your daughter’s mental health. I know parenting is tricky, but don’t give up. She needs you!
