2020 Tri-Valley Turkey Burn Family Fun Run Goes Virtual
Format modified to assure participant safety in midst of Covid-19 pandemic

The 2020 Tri-Valley Turkey Burn is going virtual to enable area residents of all ages to enjoy a healthy and safe Thanksgiving Day holiday. Register today at www.trivalleyturkeyburn.org.
Now in its sixth year, the family fun run, walk or stroll, sponsored by Pleasanton North Rotary (PNR), will feature new twists to assure participant safety in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Michael Cherman, event coordinator. Instead of the usual mass gathering on Thanksgiving Day morning at Ken Mercer Sports Park, registrants will participate by choosing their own starting line and to participating wherever they feel comfortable.
The Turkey Burn’s virtual starting times will be just as flexible, Cherman said. Registrants can start at any convenient time during the entire four-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend from Nov. 26 to Nov. 29.

“By working with the City of Pleasanton, our club realized that hosting a large gathering, like last year with nearly 2000 participants, would be unwise,” he said. “By doing it virtually this year, everyone can remain within their social bubbles, and with their families, to participate on their own.”
Registration has begun at www.trivalleyturkeyburn.org. The entry fee is $10 for adults 18 and older, $5 for kids and teens 10-to-17, and it is free for children under 10.

In keeping with Turkey Burn tradition, all participants will again receive blank “I am thankful for…” bibs for decorating with written messages, photos and drawings describing what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving Day. Participants will be encouraged to upload their favorite photos of their friends, family members and themselves in their bibs to the Turkey Burn website where they will be shared with the entire community.
They will also have opportunities to donate non-perishable food items and sponsor Christmas stockings filled with essential and fun items for needy Tri-Valley children.
Registrants will each receive a finisher medal and a Turkey Burn-branded face mask, while supplies last. Turkey Burn tee shirts, knit beanie hats, and bandanas will be available as appreciation gifts. Instructions for safe drive-by pickup are posted on the website. Net proceeds will support Tri-Valley youth services and Covid-19 relief programs. Corporate sponsor recruitment is underway.
