350 Pleasanton Soccer Players Packed 20,000 Meals For Puerto Rico
The community service event was held at Alisal Elementary School.
PLEASANTON, CA — Hundreds of young soccer players and their coaches skipped practice to gather together to help pack thousands of meals for Puerto Ricans devastated by the recent hurricanes. RAGE players teamed up with Pleasanton-based Kids Against Hunger as part of the soccer club’s first annual big sister and little sister giving back event focused on community service on November 2.
Each of the 350 players who participated donated $10 toward the cost of the meals. Alisal Elementary School hosted the event.
"This event was a huge success, as they were able to raise more than $3,500 and package more than 20,000 meals," coordinator Cassandra Fuller told Patch. "All the meals that were packaged during the event will be sent to Puerto Rico, to help those devastated by recent hurricanes."

After packing the meals, the teams celebrated the spirit of giving back with an ice cream social.
"This club-wide event served to remind players, coaches, and families that RAGE is committed to more than soccer development," Fuller said.
