Alameda County Fair Board Mourns the Loss of Board President
Bill McCammon died on October 13.

Alameda County Fair staff and board members are mourning the loss of Board President, and longtime friend, Bill McCammon.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Bill McCammon,” said Alameda County Fair CEO, Jerome Hoban. “He was admired by many and has had a significant impact on Alameda County over the years. He will be greatly missed.”
Mr. McCammon, a former Alameda County Fire Chief, served on the Fair Board since 2007 and was an active participant on a number of committees including Executive, Visioning, Agricultural Exhibits, Buildings & Grounds, Fair Operations, Finance, Promotions and Racing.

“Bill was loved, admired and respected by so many. Professionally, he had accomplished so much and I had the pleasure to work with him as Fire Chief in San Leandro coordinating emergency communications between public agencies. Bill’s passing is also a great loss for the Fair,” shared Gordon Galvan, Interim Board President.
The Celebration of Life for Bill McCammon will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Building A (Young California Building) at the Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.

An avid golfer, Bill McCammon leaves behind his wife, Rose Padilla-Johnson, and three children (Daniel, Monica and Jessica), friends, and communities that loved him dearly; his legacy will live on through the numerous programs he gave so generously to.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Chief McCammon may be sent to the Davis Street Family Resource Center at 3081 Teagarden, San Leandro, CA 94577. Donations may also be made online via www.davisstreet.org, and will be used to support the Primary Care Medical Clinic.
