Alameda County Fair Hosts Wine Competitions

The wine competition is both commercial and amateur wine competition in Alameda County.

From Alameda County Fair: Alameda County Fair recently hosted its popular annual commercial and amateur wine competitions. From the 293 commercial entries received, the following are the top medal winners for each of this year’s competitions:

  • Best of Show Red: Las Positas Vineyards, Tempranillo 2014
  • Best of Show White: The Wine Group, Concannon Reserve Chardonnay 2015
  • Best of Show Dessert: Chouinard Vineyard, Orange Muscat 2014
  • Best of Show Sauvignon Blanc: Melrose Vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc 2015
  • Best of Show Zinfandel: Frank Family Vineyards, Reserve Zinfandel 2014
  • Best of Show Zin Dessert: Bent Creek Winery, Zinfandel Port 2012

The Amateur Winemaking contest is open to California residents age 21 and over. Congratulations to this year’s top winners from 78 entries received:

  • Best of Show Red: Shakespeare Estates of Livermore
  • Best of Show White: Toloti of Fremont
  • Best of Show Dessert: Fred Watkins of Hayward
