A memorial service for Genevieve Giordano will be held on Saturday.

PLEASANTON, CA — A retired Alameda County Fire Department dispatcher died earlier this month after battling cancer. Castro Valley native and Pleasanton resident Genevieve Giordano was surrounded by her family when she died on Feb. 5 after battling a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma, fire officials said.
Giordano, who started with the Alameda County Fire Department in 2008, recently retired. Giordano graduated from Amador Valley High in 1994 and attended Las Positas College.
"We not only grieve the passing of a remarkable, selfless and caring woman but also for the loss her family, friends and loved ones suffer," fire officials said.
