3 Brush Fires Near I-680 Contained

The blazes may have been sparked after a truck hit a power pole, according to fire officials

SUNOL, CA —Alameda County Fire Department crews have contained three separate fires near the junction of Interstate Highway 680 and state Highway 84, according to fire officials.

The blaze, which was reported on southbound I-680 north of Andrade Road just after 5:30 a.m. Monday, prompted the California Highway Patrol to issue a Sig-alert, which has since been lifted. At least one lane was closed and traffic was backed up to Pleasanton.

According to fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles, the fire may have been sparked by a dump truck hitting a power pole in a quarry.
