Dublin Historian Featured Speaker At Pleasanton's Museum On Main
Steve Minniear will be discussing his newest book, "Dublin, California: A Brief History," and sharing the city's interesting back story.

PLEASANTON, CA — A Dublin historian will be sharing his thoughts, historic images, crazy stories and answers to questions like how the city got its name during an upcoming event at Museum on Main on Pleasanton.
On Sept. 19, Steve Minniear will be discussing his newest book, "Dublin, California: A Brief History," and sharing the city's interesting and long history. Minniear is a long-time Dublin resident, author and historian. He is president of the Dublin Historical Preservation Association, a member of the Dublin City Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission, a volunteer archivist for Dublin's Heritage Park and Museums and a volunteer curator at the Dublin Camp Parks Military History Center.
In addition to his most recent book, he is co-author of "Dublin and the Tri-Valley: The World War II Years," a pictorial history of Camp Parks, Camp Shoemaker, Shoemaker Naval Hospital and Livermore Naval Air Station.

In addition to talking about how Dublin got its name, Minniear will discuss how the city wound up being a smaller town than Pleasanton — even though it had more hotels in 1860 —and what started the residential development north of Interstate 580.
Minniear's hour-long presentation and discussion will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. He will be available to sign his books and answer questions until 7:30 p.m.

The event is part of the Museum on Main's lecture series entitled, "A Discussion with ...," which aims to provide attendees with a more "intimate space to learn from and share with speakers."
