Firefighters Battle Sunol Fire

The fire was quickly contained at an acre, according to Cal Fire. Firefighters remained on scene Wednesday afternoon.

SUNOL, CA — Firefighters quickly stopped the spread of a wildfire near State Route 680 Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was initially reported at a half-acre on Andrade Route near the freeway and moved slowly, according to the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit, which covers Alameda County. Alameda County firefighters were also on scene.

The fire was dubbed the Andrade Fire.

About ten minutes after Cal Fire notified the public of the fire on Twitter, firefighters announced that it had been controlled at an acre.

Drivers passing through the area were asked to use caution, as firefighters remained on scene extinguishing flames.
