Firehouse Arts Center Announces Summer Show Series

From classical to drag, there is something for everybody. Tickets can be purchased online, over the phone, and in person.

From Firehouse Arts Center: The Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton announces the Summer Show Series for 2017, and it includes a wide variety of mood-lifting, toe-tapping concerts and productions. From a top-notch musical drag/comedy show, to Broadway classics, a Simon & Garfunkel tribute, and those fabulous Golden Follies, Firehouse programmer Rob Vogt has checked all the boxes for entertainment fun in the list of offerings.

The Kinsey Sicks: “Dragapella!” America’s Favorite Dragapella Beauty Shop Quartet. Saturday, June 24, 8:00 p.m. – $17 - $27. With a phenomenal performance record that includes an Off-Broadway show, an extended run in Vegas, two feature films and two concert DVDs, nine albums, and appearances throughout the US (in over 40 states), Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia, The Kinsey Sicks hardly need an introduction. For over 20 years, Dragapella has served up a feast of award-winning a Capella singing, sharp satire and over-the-top drag, earning The Kinsey Sicks a diverse and devoted following.

Hadleigh Adams: “Classical Broadway.” Internationally acclaimed singer celebrates everyone’s favorite Broadway Classics.Sunday, July 23, 2:00 p.m. –. $15 - $25. New Zealand-born, United States-based baritone Hadleigh Adams has a demanding concert schedule on the opera stage, most recently at London’s Royal National Theatre and Sydney Opera House, following two years as principal young artist at San Francisco Opera. Indulging in his passion for musical theatre, Adams presents “leading man” songs from classic Broadway shows, with selections including “The Impossible Dream” from The Man of La Mancha, “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific, “I’ve Grown Accustomed To Her Face” from My Fair Lady, and “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables (plus maybe a classic aria or two?)

“5, 6, 7, 8…” The Golden Follies 2017. Glamour, glitz, style and chutzpah! Saturday, July 29 & Sunday, July 30, 2:00 p.m. –$15 - $25. The beloved “senior sensations” heat up the stage with Broadway favorites, “virtually” visiting fabulous locales while decked-out in gorgeous costumes and executing lively choreography. Always a sell-out, the high energy musical revue will again feature San Francisco Chanteuse Wiggy Darlington.

“The Music of Simon & Garfunkel” by AJ Swearingen and Jayne Kelli. The music and spirit of the beloved folk-rock duo.August 12, 8:00 p.m. & Sunday, August 13, 2:00 p.m. – $15 - $25. AJ Swearingen’s bass-baritone and masterful acoustic guitar playing blend with Kelli’s angelic vocals in the vein of Art Garfunkel to pay a magical tribute to the 1960’s Greenwich Village, NY coffeehouse performances. Together and separately the duo have shared the stage with Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, Livingston Taylor, John McCutcheon and many more.

Ticket prices vary by show: Tickets can be purchased online at www.firehousearts.org, by calling 925-931-4848, and in person at the Box Office, 4444 Railroad Avenue, Pleasanton. Box Office hours are Wednesday - Friday 12:00 noon-6:00 p.m.and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and two hours prior to the performance if not sold out.

The Firehouse Arts Center is dedicated to inspiring passion through the arts.
