PLEASANTON, Calif. — With its facilities closed and its patrons at home due to local and state Shelter-in-Place orders, the Firehouse Arts Center’s Harrington Gallery is taking its exhibits online with ‘Art in Place.’ The virtual exhibition showcases a diverse range of artworks created by Bay Area artists during the shelter-in-place directive.
Ninety local artists submitted works of art, and every piece will be on display—from the works of budding middle school artists to professionals who have been honing their talents for decades.
“We were delighted by the incredible response to our call for art, and we continue to be surprised by the amazing talent and creativity of our community,” said Rachel Montez, Visual Arts & Gallery Curator for the Firehouse Arts Center. “The beauty of the community coming together and sharing their message through art has been overwhelming. It shows that the power of art shines through even in the toughest times.”
Take a tour of the virtual exhibition at www.firehousearts.org/gallery/art-in-place/. The exhibit will be up on the website through May 29th, 2020. For questions about specific artworks, the public is encouraged to contact the artists through their listed emails and websites.
