PLEASANTON, CA — With the Fourth of July holiday days ahead, firefighters are warning Pleasanton that all fireworks — even safe and sane fireworks — are illegal in the city.
Many people are unaware that it's illegal to possess, transport or use fireworks in Pleasanton, according to a statement from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
Dublin is the only Tri-Valley city where fireworks can be purchased and used on July 4, and the city sets limits on where those fireworks can be lit.

“Unfortunately, misuse and abuse of fireworks result in unnecessary fires and injuries," said Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Deputy Chief Aaron Lacey. "Our goal is to inform the community that use of these products is illegal and pose a large threat to public health and safety."
Fireworks can be surrendered for safe disposal at any fire station, including the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department headquarters (3560 Nevada St., Pleasanton) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. Fireworks can also be brought to the Pleasanton Police Department (4833 Bernal Ave.) or Livermore Police Department (1110 S. Livermore Ave.).
