Fitness, Fun and Community Support – A Winning Combination
Axis Community Health's April Fools 5k is coming!
Take a moment to count your blessings. Is decent health care one of them? How about the ability to walk or run three miles or more? You’re fortunate to have both. What better way to make the most of that and share your good fortune with others than to participate in an event to help those with less?
This Sunday you’ll have an opportunity to do just that at the April Fool’s 5k Walk/Run to benefit Axis Community Health. Axis serves the greater Tri Valley area providing medical care for low income and uninsured residents. Needs continue to grow and Axis is growing with them, providing services such as check-ups and immunizations for kids along with prenatal and other critical medical care to about 5% of the Tri Valley’s 200,000 residents. They expect to nearly double their service base by 2014. Sunday’s event will help provide resources for that need.
But it’s also an opportunity for all of us to share a great time for an even greater cause. The theme is “Fun, Foolish and Fabulous” and they’ll be providing some silly surprises along the route. You may see a jester or two and perhaps a few other unexpected delights before you cross the finish line.

"The Foundation wanted to promote wellness with a fun, family-friendly event for Axis Community Health. We thought an April Fools themed fun walk and run would be perfect because laughter is the best medicine!" offers Chairperson of the Axis Foundation Board, Becky Yeffa.
Tri Valley Trainer will have a booth there and provide a pre-race warm-up, post race stretching for those so inclined and Axis will be giving away five one-month membership gift certificates in a drawing at the event.
