Flood Advisory Issued As Storm Moves In On Tri-Valley

The southwestern corner of Alameda County was covered by a flood advisory issued from about 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — As a storm moves over the Tri-Valley area, weather officials issued a flood advisory from about 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Heavy rain was expected to flood small streams and urban areas, especially in low-lying areas, the National Weather Service forecast.

Officials warned that drivers avoid flooded areas to avoid getting stuck.

The flood advisory was issued for southwest Alameda County, Santa Cruz County, San Mateo County and west Santa Clara County.

This is the second and strongest storm of the week.

Wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph are possible. Coastal areas are expected to see one to three inches of rain, with urban areas expected to see a quarter-inch to an inch of rain.

Tri-Valley residents may notice white-tipped mountains, as a few inches of snow could fall on local mountaintops, and those in the North Bay and Santa Cruz County regions, forecasters wrote.

Showers may continue into Friday morning, but come the weekend, weather officials forecast drier and somewhat warmer weather.
