Dillon Patrick O'Leary, who was beloved by so many in the community, died in November after he lost his battle to a rare form of cancer.

PLEASANTON, CA — Funeral services are scheduled Saturday for a 12-year-old Pleasanton Little Leaguer who recently lost his battle with a rare cancer. A year after returning home from a six-month stay in Children’s Hospital Oakland, Dillon Patrick O'Leary, who suffered from Ependymoma tumors throughout his back and brain, died in November.

Dillon was carried off of the baseball field by his father when he suddenly collapsed in May of 2015. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and placed in intensive care. Tests finally confirmed the cancer.

Sunol Glen Elementary, where Dillon attended school, recently celebrated “Dillon O' Leary Day” with a dedication celebration in honor of Dillon in the school garden. Those who attended were asked to wear green in honor of their schoolmate.
