Kate Steinle's Funeral Was In Pleasanton Thursday
Two funds have now been established in her honor.

The memorial service for Pleasanton native Kathryn Steinle, who was fatally shot on San Francisco’s Pier 14 while walking with her father last week, is scheduled for this afternoon.
Steinle’s service will be held at a winery at 3 p.m., according to Hung Ly, who is organizing a memorial fund via the website GiveForward.com.
As of this afternoon, the fund had raised more than $24,000 of the $40,000 goal, receiving more than 300 separate donations. According to the site, the funds will be passed along to Steinle’s family. Jay Foot, a spokesman for GiveForward, said the memorial fundraiser has been sanctioned by the Steinle family and will help offset costs of the funeral as well as promote Kate’s legacy and the causes close to her heart.

The fund is separate from a GoFundMe memorial fund started by Steinle’s family to support causes that were important to her. That account has raised more than $36,000 of its $50,000 goal. Kate’s brother Brad wrote an update yesterday:

Thank you all for the unbelievably kind words and contributions we have received so far. The outpouring of support for our family has been overwhelming and humbling.
We have also had an amazing amount of support on a site that was started by some of Kate’s coworkers at GiveForward.com. Though there are two different sites, they are both working toward the same goal of raising funds to promote Kate’s legacy and the causes that were close to her heart. Between the two sites, over 500 people have already reached out to remember Kate and support her funds.
