Pleasanton Food Drive Helps Needy, Tri-Valley Not-For-Profit
The drive amassed more than 8,000 non-perishable food items and benefits Tri-Valley Haven, which serves sexual and domestic assault victims.

PLEASANTON, CA — A recent food drive sponsored by the Pleasanton Police Officers Association Charitable Foundation brought in between 8,000 and 10,000 non-perishable food items and also raised more than $2,000 that will be used to provide help to those who need it most in the community.
The Pleasanton Police Officers Association partnered with Grocery Outlet for the canned food drive earlier this month. The drive benefits Tri-Valley Haven, which works with victims of domestic and sexual abuse as well as those who struggle with maintaining a permanent place to live.

In the weeks leading up to the final day of the food drive on May 15, barrels were placed in the lobby of the Pleasanton Police Department and at the Pleasanton Grocery Outlet for members of the community to donate non-perishable food items. By the time the drive ended, organizers had collected enough food items to fill four vehicles with boxes full of the food.

A spokesman for the Pleasanton Police Officers Association said the drive allowed the foundation to give back to the community and provide assistance to those who may not otherwise receive help.
Community members who donated 10 canned goods or 10 non-perishable items were placed into a drawing to win a $100 Grocery Outlet gift certificate. Organizers handed out three $100 gift cards and the Police Officers Association also raised $2,000 in a raffle for a Playstation 5.

All proceeds from the raffle will be used for needs in the Pleasanton community to assist with scholarships for students in need, to help those dealing with the loss of a family member or other local residents who may be in need of assistance.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations.
