Pleasanton Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting Celebration Announced

The city is now taking applications for entry into its holiday parade, which will occur just before the tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 7.

PLEASANTON, CA — The City of Pleasanton has scheduled its annual Hometown Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony for Saturday, Dec. 7. There will be seasonal songs, performances by the Foothill and Amador Valley High School marching bands and a Santa visit.

The event will be held in downtown Pleasanton, under the Pleasanton arch, and run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to a press release from the city. Festivities will kick off with the parade, which will feature hot rods, floats, animal groups and more. The December People will perform holiday songs in the style of well-known bands, at a stage at the Museum on Main.

Pleasanton Mayor Jerry Thorne will lead the tree lighting ceremony around 6:45 p.m., with a little help from Santa.

Parade entry applications are accepted until Nov. 27.

Traffic on Main Street will shut down at 3:30 p.m. A parade cancellation hotline (925-931-5352) will be available beginning 2:30 p.m. the day of the parade, in case of inclement weather.
