Pleasanton Hometown Holiday Parade 2020 Canceled

Concerns about the coronavirus have prompted city officials to call off the event. This is the second year in a row that it's been canceled.

PLEASANTON, CA — The City of Pleasanton has canceled the 2020 Hometown Holiday celebration due to health orders prohibiting large group gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The hometown holiday parade and tree lighting have drawn thousands in years past to get a glimpse of Santa, hear marching bands and take a peek at hot rods.

An alternative at-home Christmas event is slated for Dec. 5, the city said. Details are forthcoming.

This is the second consecutive year that the parade has been called off. Last year, heavy rain and wind hours before the event forced its cancellation.
