Pleasanton Launches Literary Arts Ambassador Post
The two year commitment focuses on raising awareness of the importance of literature as it relates to lifelong literacy and education.

From the City of Pleasanton: The Civic Arts program has a new, honorary post for the City’s Literary Arts Ambassador and is seeking applications through July 14 for the position.
“If you are a Pleasanton resident with a flair for the creative, and you are interested in sharing your creative passion with our community, we want to hear from you,” said Michele Crose, civic arts manager for the City of Pleasanton.
Whoever is selected will be asked to serve for two years and focus on raising awareness of the importance of literature as it relates to lifelong literacy and education.

“The Literary Arts Ambassador may contribute to civic and public events and dedications with literary readings, and workshops. One of the program’s goals is to have this person support and encourage the City’s youth, as well as the Teen Literary Arts Program,” Crose concluded.
Though the position is unsalaried, there is a limited budget to cover expenses, and Civic Arts staff administrative support is provided. The term runs from October2017 through June 2019.Applications will be accepted through July 14, 2017.
To qualify, you must:
- Be a Pleasanton Resident 18 years or older
- Be a writer or illustrator
- Be a leader with experience in promoting literature
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Possess a dynamic, engaging personality
- Four original writings
- A one-page letter of interest which includes a brief outline of your vision for possibleprojects or activities during your tenure
- A letter of support from two writers
- A resume indicating active participation in promoting the literary arts in our community
Selected finalists will be invited to present their writings and vision personally to a selection committee on July 20 which will make a recommendation to the Civic Arts Commission. The successful candidate will be appointed by the Pleasanton City Council.
