Pleasanton Mayor’s Wife Dies After Battling Cancer

Sandra (Sandi) Thorne died Friday morning at home surrounded by her family. Flags at the city will be flown at half-staff in her honor.

PLEASANTON, CA — The wife of Pleasanton Mayor Jerry Thorne died Friday morning, city officials confirmed. Sandra (Sandi) Roy Thorne, passed away at the age of 80 after a battle with cancer, according to Thorne’s campaign manager.

“It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Sandi Thorne, who died unexpectedly. Sandi was
a devoted wife and mother and a great friend to our community. I have directed all City flags be flown at half-staff through the weekend in honor of Sandi and her significant contributions to our City. I would also like to offer our deepest condolences to the Mayor and his family,” Pleasanton City Manager Nelson Fialho said in a statement.

Thorne was on the Board of Directors at the Museum on Main, and she was also actively engaged in the Assistance League of Amador Valley.

The couple had been married more than 40 years. Funeral arrangements are being made by her family and will be shared once information is available.
