PLEASANTON, CA — Seven residents of the Stoneridge Creek senior living community in Pleasanton were honored this 4th of July with quilts to recognize their service.

The ceremony has been an annual tradition at Stoneridge Creek communities since 2015. Residents have made dozens of quilts for their neighbors, including those who have served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War, according to a statement from Stoneridge Creek. Pleasanton nonprofit Amador Valley Quilters pitched in to help make the quilts.

Quilts were also presented to widows of veterans who were unable to be honored in 2020 due to pandemic safety restrictions, according to Stoneridge Creek.
