Remembering Beloved Pleasanton Resident Gisele I. Stickler

Gisele I. Stickler was very active in the Pleasanton Little League, Pleasanton Seahawks swim team and AVHS Boosters.

PLEASANTON, CA — Gisele Stickler passed away on June 4, 2018 after a 14-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She had a fierce passion for life, an infectious smile, and unwavering strength. Her ability to find the positive in every situation, no matter how difficult it may have been, was not only inspiring to all, it also was what made her truly one of a kind.

Gisele’s life and resilient fight was motivated by the commitment and love she had for her family. For thirty years she was a devoted wife and lifelong companion to Greg Stickler and beloved mother to Kevin and Danielle. Gisele was the backbone of the Stickler family and a trusted, empathetic friend to so many people.

Gisele was born and raised in Oakland, CA, to Maurice and Paulette Besse, both lifelong Oakland teachers whose selflessness, compassion, and generosity transformed the lives of countless students over their careers — rare traits that were passed along to their only child, Gisele.

After attending California State University, Chico, she began her life’s work as a medical administrator at Peralta Hospital in Oakland where she met her future husband, Greg. The two married on November 14, 1987, in San Francisco, CA. In 1990, they moved to Pleasanton where they raised their two children, Kevin and Danielle.

Gisele’s greatest accomplishment was being a mother. She was exceptionally proud to watch her children graduate from college, Kevin from California State University, Chico and Danielle from Saint Louis University, and watch them find continued success. In September 2017, Gisele was able to witness Kevin marry his love Michelle LeClair, and it was her final life milestone that the Stickler family will cherish forever.
