Retired Pleasanton Police Officer Joe Rose Dies At 93
Joe Rose, known around town as "Badge #1," was beloved in the community.
PLEASANTON, CA — The community is mourning the loss of retired Pleasanton police officer Joe Rose. The Hayward native and longtime Pleasanton resident died on April 30. He was 93. Rose moved to Pleasanton from Hayward in 1956. The military veteran joined the force and served for almost three decades before retiring as a sergeant in 1985. He was affectionately known around town as “Badge #1.”
A police department spokesperson said Rose was a “cop’s cop” and was loved by all who knew him.
A rosary service will be held for Rose this evening at Graham-Hitch Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery and church in Pleasanton. Chief Dave Spiller will speak during the services.
