Road Closures Planned Thursday Morning For 'Every 15 Minutes'

Roads will be closed as police present a mock collision scene to discourage Foothill High students from driving under the influence.

PLEASANTON, CA — Residents can expect to hear sirens and see road closures along Foothill Road from W. Las Positas Boulevard and Muirwood Drive March 5 as the Pleasanton Police Department simulates a drunk driving car crash as part of the Every 15 Minutes program.

Foothill High School will participate in the Every 15 Minutes program — so named because a drunk driving crash occurs about every 15 minutes in the U.S. — on March 5 and 6, police said in a statement. Juniors and seniors will be educated on the dangers of driving impaired.

First responders will respond to the scene of a fake crash and arrest a student driver during the collision simulation, which will close Foothill from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 5, police said.
