Safeway Building Evacuated Due to Freon Leak

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department sent a hazmat team to the scene and the leak was fixed without any injuries.

The Safeway building on the 6000 block of Stoneridge Mall Drive was evacuated Monday afternoon after the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department discovered a Freon leak from an air conditioning unit, according to Battalion Chief Jack Neiman-Kimel.

No injuries were reported during the incident and the building is now considered safe to occupy.

The incident was originally reported as a possible structure fire in the building just after 4 p.m. Firefighters instead discovered the Freon leak, evacuated the building and sent a hazmat team to the scene.
