'Fun House' Sex, Nudity At Alameda Co. Fair: Official Response
The "Pirates of the Magical Midway" fun house at this year's fair was screening an R-rated movie that contained some sexuality and nudity.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Officials with the Alameda County Fair wasted no time responding to a report that the "Pirates of the Magical Midway" fun house at this year's fair was screening an R-rated movie that contained some sexuality and nudity. The 1999 film “Pirates: Blood Brothers” was looping on a screen at the fun house over the weekend, but 1952's much less steamy "Crimson Pirate" should have been rolling instead, according to officials.
The apparent mistake came to the attention of fair officials after a local news outlet was tipped by a parent about the screening. According to KTVU, a video sent to the station by the parent shows at least seven kids walking down the stairs from the fun house as mothers' voices could be heard ushering them away. In the background an erotic love scene plays out onscreen in the fun house, although the children seem mostly oblivious.
In response, the Alameda County Fair issued a statement Monday:

Due to a DVD mix up, video footage from the pirate movie “Pirates: Blood Brothers” was looping on a monitor at the fun house last night in the carnival midway. Unknowingly, a suggestive scene from this movie was displayed on one of the monitors in view of fair guests. After discovering the inappropriate footage, the video feed was immediately removed.
This video footage is not in alignment with the values of the Alameda County Fair or Butler Amusements and was unacceptable. Moving forward, all video footage and other content in the carnival midway will be reviewed for audience appropriateness before being displayed.
We deeply apologize and thank the fair guest for bringing it to our attention so that we could take immediate action to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
Alameda County Fair’s top priority is to create a family friendly, safe environment for all who attend the fair.
The annual Alameda County Fair, which began June 14 and runs through July 7, has no history of incidents like this one. The Western Fairs Association and the International Association of Fairs and Expositions bestowed top honors on the event for 2018, including awards for innovation and excellence in competitive exhibits, agricultural programs and communications.
